Village Wardrobe is a peer-to-peer clothing rental platform where users can rent and/or lend high-quality clothing from each other. Each item is picked up and dropped off at your local partner dry cleaner, leaving the cleaning and care of rental garments to the professionals and eliminating user-to-user hand offs.

You can rent an item of clothing for as little as one day and up to 30 days. Just request your needed dates using the availability calendars. Need more time beyond your return date? Extensions are possible depending on demand, just submit a request.

We collect your payment details when you submit your rental request, securely through Stripe, but you won’t be charged until your request has been approved. If your request isn’t approved, you’re never charged.

At this time, our pilot does not include fitting appointments. However, each item includes detailed sizing and fit notes to help you choose confidently. Some of our partner cleaners may allow you to try on during pick-up. If your item does not end up fitting, flag the fit issue under your order number and return to the dry cleaners as soon as possible (but no later than 12 hours after pick-up) for a partial refund in accordance with our cancellation policy.

If you accidentally damage the item during your rental (marks, stains, tears, etc.), note and document the damage under the order number as soon as possible so we can help. You may be charged additional cleaning or repair fees for impermanent damage. For permanent damage, you will be billed in accordance with our Terms of Service.

You can cancel your rental request free of charge at any time before the lender approves your request. Once you have been charged, you can cancel the rental in accordance with our Terms of Service.

Because each rental is time-sensitive and demand-based, rentals are usually final once you’ve picked up the item, but we never want you left stuck. If you experience any issues, immediately return to the dry cleaner and submit a refund/return request under your order number. We will review it together with the dry cleaner, but refunds are not guaranteed. All lenders provide accurate sizing and fit information to help you choose confidently.

Yes! Anyone can sign up to become a lender. Once you have created an account, you can submit a listing for our review!

We try to focus on premium brands to ensure high quality garments, but we do not have a set list of brands we accept.

To collect payments, you’ll need to create a Village Wardrobe account and connect a Stripe account to receive payouts. Village Wardrobe takes a 20% platform fee, and your partner dry cleaner also takes a cleaning fee out of each rental.

You pick up and return your rental at one of our participating dry cleaner locations.

No, we’ll handle the cleaning! Simply drop off your item at the same dry cleaner you picked it up at.

Right now, we’re only piloting Village Wardrobe in Boston and Charleston in select neighborhood dry cleaners. If you’re in another city and want to bring Village Wardrobe to your neighborhood, fill out our interest form!
